The issue is when young girls feel that they HAVE to wear make up and tan in order to be perceived as beautiful by anyone. It’s okay if you want to wear make up and go tanning, as long as you understand that it isn’t necessary for you to be beautiful. The issue is making these superficial standards that dictates whether or not someone is beautiful. Instead of teaching them to put on make up to look pretty, we just need to tell them how beautiful they are from the very beginning so that they are comfortable in their skin. If they decide on their own they like make up, cool. Just so long as they know that they are beautiful no matter what.
